Who We Are
The Eyrie is a Birds of Prey centre with the goal of instilling a respect, sense of wonder, and knowledge of raptors in the public. While we are working towards our eventual goals of having a facility open to the public and a rehabilitation centre, we are currently focusing on educational outreach.
Run by husband & wife team Matthew & Kristin Morgan, we employ a respect for the welfare of our animals as a first and foremost priority in all that we do, and are constantly learning & adapting to try and be the best caretakers that we possibly can.
Matthew achieved his life-long dream of becoming a falconer over a decade ago, and after learning the basics of how to train raptors while attending Trent University for Environmental Studies, he began his career in training and flying various birds of prey. He has worked at Ireland’s premier falconry center, and has traveled across Canada, from BC to Newfoundland, sharing his passion for Birds of Prey and teaching thousands of members of the public about these incredible animals.
Kristin learned much about the theoretical aspect of training raptors while Matthew was starting his own training process, and learned much more of the hands-on aspect of how to train Birds of Prey while travelling across Western Canada, while also simultaneously completing her own degree in Fanshawe College’s Eco-Tourism program. She has an incredible passion for ensuring the public has a thorough and reliable field knowledge to encourage others to go out into the natural world and experience it first-hand.
